You win some, you lose some...

Last week I had a great time in a local bar called "Breyner 85". They hold jam sessions on Sunday nights and I went there to check it out... Everything kicked off around 11.30pm (typically late for portugal), and the place quickly got packed. The groove was mainly blues, jazz and a bit of funk... It was all about improvisation and countless artists came on and off the stage to play several different bits... The standard was pretty high from what I'm used to in the open mic sessions I've been, but not much folk music... There was piano, drums, bass, guitar, sax, clarinet, harmonica and a number of singers... It was a really fun night that lasted 'till 6am! The manager came on stage towards the end and even announced a free round of beer for the late night survivors! sweet!

The only minus was the amount of smoke in the room... it got unbearable and I don't think my brewing flu liked it either because the next day I started feeling v rough!

On came all the medication and every effort to recover in time for the metro audition, which to a certain degree I did. I had a last minute change in song and decided to play "Strange kind of feeling" instead of covering pink floyd...

The audition was pretty cool, lots of interesting artists around and I did my bit. Had a bit of a mind blank during the first verse but somewhat managed to blablabla my way through... Overall I was satisfied with the performance but just a moment ago I got an email saying I didn't get chosen... so I guess that's that.

Tomorrow I'm having surgery to get my wisdom tooth out because it's a bit infected and it's not the first time this happens... quite relieved I'm getting this done it's been doing my head in for a while.

Meanwhile the plans for the bike trip this summer are starting to take shape... We have decided to start in Rome, around the 20th of July, and head up towards Denmark... I'm planning on settling there for a while but it's a bit of an unknown at the moment... Either way i'll be saying goodbye to portugal!

I wanna take my bigger guitar with me this time but in order to do so I need to get a bike-guitar-rack, which I can't find anywhere to buy one... So I've decided to make one... This is the first sketch I made of the rack, I think it's gonna be made out of lightweight aluminium tube, which I will cut out and get someone to weld the bits together. The rack will fit to the back of the bike, the topside will be secure where the lights are, there are 2 neat holes I can fix it to, I'll relocate the lights to the neck brace so that they are visible. The only bit which I haven't accurately drawn yet are the bottom arms which will attach to the bike. I haven't figured out the best way to fix it to the existing bike rack yet... Don't really want to weld to it so I'll look for some kind of ring coupler or something along those lines... This is what it will sort of look like I hope...

Laterz!
